Enhancing School Sports Facilities with Advanced Lighting Solutions

We are proud to showcase one of our latest projects; the design and construction of sports field lighting across various school ovals in Brisbane South. Commissioned by Qbuild – Department of Energy and Public Works, this project highlights our commitment to delivering high-quality, safe and efficient lighting solutions for educational institutions.

Locations: Brisbane South, including five state schools – Mansfield SS, Rochedale SS, Upper Mount Gravatt SS, Wishart SS, and Mackenzie SS

Project Scope and Deliverables

The scope of this project involved the design and construction of sports field lighting to 100 lux, adhering to AS2560:2 standards for football club competition and match practice. Our comprehensive deliverables included:

1. Design and Documentation:

• Detailed design documentation, including technical data, geotechnical reports and foundation design.
• Construction drawings and aiming schemes with Lux plots to ensure optimal lighting distribution.

2. Site Safety and Security:

• Maintaining a secure and safe site while working in operational school environments, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to daily activities.

3. Underground Reticulation:

• Installation of conduit and pit systems for underground reticulation, including submains and subcircuits.
• Restoration of affected hard stand areas and re-turfing of grassed sports fields.

4. Electrical Infrastructure:

• Installation of new distribution boards and alterations to existing ones.
• Provision of stainless steel lighting control panel boards with IP56 rated single and three-phase GPOs.

5. Lighting Installation:

• Erection of multi-head 22-meter galvanized steel poles with cross arms and structural foundations designed to suit the final layout.
• Implementation of Philips Optivision lighting heads with anti-glare louvers and pole-mounted LED drivers.

6. Testing and Certification:

• Conducting aiming and lux plot surveys, electrical testing to AS300 standards  and obtaining RPEQ certification to ensure compliance and safety.

This project not only enhances the sporting facilities of the involved schools but also demonstrates our capability in executing large-scale, complex projects with precision and attention to detail. The state-of-the-art lighting systems installed will significantly improve the usability of the sports fields, allowing for extended hours of safe and effective use.
